Carey knows (and loves) Indianapolis.

She grew up in Indianapolis, graduated from Pike High School, and returned with her husband to raise her family in the heart of District 87. Carey comes from a line of veterans and small business owners. Today, her husband is co-owner of a small business on Indy’s north side.


And she’s qualified.

Carey is an executive with experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors, and has worked in the environmental field for 20+ years. Throughout her career she has managed several policy development initiatives and public outreach programs. Her professional and community service work includes:

  • Manager, State of Indiana Partners for Clean Air Program (1995-1997)

  • Director, State of Indiana Recycling Program (1998-1999)

  • First Director of Indiana’s Greening the Government Program (1999-2000)

  • Energy Projects Manager for the City of San Jose, California (2001-2003)

  • Owner, Carey Hamilton Consulting.  Environmental consulting for public, private and nonprofit clients (2003-2008)

  • Executive Director, Indiana Recycling Coalition (2008-2018)

  • VP, ClimateView (2021-2023)

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Indiana University, Bloomington
